How to Daughter

After a fall leaves Anne (Georgie Glen) in hospital, a high fever begins to blur the boundaries between past and present. Her daughter Sarah (Louise Osbourne) arrives after a long drive from work and takes her place at the bedside, where old resentments, half remembered truths and decades of emotional distance begin to surface. In Anne’s delirium, other versions of them step into the room: a younger Sarah, fresh from a 1980s gymnastics practice, and a young Anne emerging from the late 1950s, still carrying the wounds of her own childhood. As the women confront the lives they lived and the choices that shaped them, the past is replayed, challenged and finally understood. How to Daughter is a story about mothers, daughters, inherited hurt and the simple human need to be seen.
